  • 26"x30" Mixed media acrylic and charcoal painting on raw canvas. This painting began as a chance to paint the same horse on canvas as on paper but soon became an entirely different piece. I painted this piece as a reflection of finding lightness even when circumstances don’t change. The leather bridle, accented with gold, is present—restraint has not disappeared—but the smile suggests an inner choice: the decision to remain joyful, self-aware, and intact within limitation. For me, this work is about resilience that doesn’t harden. It speaks to moments when clarity and self-trust coexist with constraint. The horse’s smile becomes an act of quiet rebellion—proof that identity, hope, and inner freedom can survive even in environments shaped by pressure and control.
